has been a Broadway theatre professional for more than 25 years. As an actress she has appeared in the Broadway and national tours of ANYTHING GOES, BONNIE & CLYDE, NINE, WICKED, CINDERELLA, SHOW

BOAT, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and the upcoming Broadway production of AMAZING GRACE.

 

As a writer, she has written book and lyrics for the musicals A PROPER PLACE, LOVE 3, FETCHING WATER

and HERE WE ARE which have been presented and/or workshopped at the York Theatre, Transport Group, Human Race Theatre, San Gabriel Civic Light Opera and

The Downbeat New Musicals events. In 2014, A PROPER PLACE with composer Curtis Rhodes,

was selected for the Goodspeed’s Festival of New Musicals and The Village Theatre New Musical

Festival. Known for the surprising “turns” in her lyrics, and her unique combination of heart and wit, her songs have been heard in venues throughout the New York City including 54Below, Don’t Tell Mama’s and the Laurie Beechman Theatre performed by such Broadway names as Barbara Walsh, Marc Kudisch, Max von Essen, Lynne Wintersteller, Andrea Burns, Darren Ritchie, Celia Keenan-Bolger and more. The Arts and Artists Songbook featured an entire evening of Leslie’s songs at Lincoln Center with various composers including Mary-Mitchell Campbell, Michael Hunsaker and Curtis Rhodes. She was the cofounder and executive director for The Musical Writers Playground in NYC from 1998-2001, which focused on the development of new musicals. She is also the author of the best selling book The Organized Actor® and the follow-up book The Build Your Business Book. She is currently working on a third title.

 

She is in the Advanced BMI workshop as a lyricist, and is a member of ASCAP, The Dramatist’s Guild and Nashville Songwriters Association and a proud member of Actors Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.
