CEO/President of Antoinette Roberson Consultants

A native Houstonian, Dr. Antoinette Roberson knew from a very young age that she liked singing and writing songs. The stage appeared to be set when she wrote her very first song at the age of eight. However, she would not realize her true calling until much later.

Performing with her elementary and middle school choirs was enjoyable but it was more of a “ritual” than a “rite of passage” as she was, seemingly, more interested in becoming the next Olympic swimmer than becoming Whitney Houston.  Nonetheless, after an eighth grade class mate told her about Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), “the Fame school,” her desire to take her singing from hobby to career was ignited.

The pivotal moment came when Antoinette informed her eighth grade choir director that she was interested in applying to HSPVA. To her utter dismay, the choir director told her that she wasn’t good enough to be admitted to HSPVA and that she should set her sights on attending her locally zoned school. That director didn’t realize Antoinette’s competitive and driven spirit (earned honestly from her mother who has owned her own educational institution for more than 60 years). She would apply and gain admittance to the prestigious high school at the tender age of 13.

HSPVA taught Antoinette the foundational pedagogy of how the voice works. Furthermore, the rigorous 3-hours a day of weekly vocal training, 4-hours a day of weekly academic instruction and countless performances throughout the city would shape and mold her tenacious work ethic. Additionally, while attending HSPVA, Antoinette would learn concepts associated with vocal technique, breath control, song styling and stage performance.

After high school graduation, Antoinette received a full scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where in her cohort would be Lalah Hathaway, Paula Cole, Quincy Jones III, Jazz Trumpeter Roy Hargrove, just to name a few. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from the critically acclaimed New School University located in the heart of Manhattan, New York. She would go on to work as a fulltime musician traveling the globe performing, writing, producing and vocal coaching.

Dr. Roberson, a mega-producer, prolific songwriter and phenomenal singer, has been praised by Luther Vandross as being one of the most extraordinary talents of her generation. Further, she was titled number "eight" songwriter in the world by Billboard Magazine. “Antoinette is a triple threat! She’s the truth,” said Gerald Levert, son of Eddie Levert of The O’jays.

Antoinette has co-produced, co-written and vocal arranged masterpieces for Elektra Recording Artists such as:

  • Busta Rhymes feat. Janet Jackson “What’s It Gonna’ Be” #1 for 14 weeks on Billboard Magazine, and nominated for a Grammy Award in 1998

  • LSG’s “My Body” #1 for 19 weeks on Billboard Magazine

She co-wrote, produced and vocal arranged the song “Seven” for Motown recording artist “702” for their Platinum selling album entitled “Seven”. She co-wrote, produced and vocal arranged the mega hit “The Lover That You Are” by Pulse feat. Antoinette Roberson, that went to #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Dance Charts. This was the first #1 hit record for Jellybean Benitez’s label, Jellybean Recordings.

Antoinette has performed with worldwide artists such as Cher, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, D’Angelo, Dr. Dre, Maxwell, Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, Shannon, Busta Rhymes, Janet Jackson, Paula Cole, Lisa Fischer, Will Downing, Diane Reeves, Melis’a Morgan, Lalah Hathaway, Gerald Albright, Alex Bungnon, Donald Byrd, Clark Terry, Lionel Hampton, Joe Chambers, Roy Hargrove and members of God’s Property.

Desirous to further her educational aspirations, Antoinette would attain her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Educational Administration and Foundations from Texas Southern University one of the nation’s most prominent Universities. Additionally, she currently avails her services, to her alma mater, in the capacity of adjunct professor in the university’s College of Education where she facilitates masters and doctoral level courses.

You would think that Antoinette would have hung her artist’s hat up. Au contraire, this multi-faceted diva is currently promoting her top hit “More” on UniverslCMG/Sony Entertainment. Her motto is, “you are More than they say you are. If you can see More, you can be More!”

Educational scholar and multiple award-winning legend, Dr. Antoinette Roberson is one of contemporary music's trailblazers with a career of unprecedented worldwide success spanning more than twenty years.
